84th Wilmer Residents Association (WRA) Clinical Meeting and Graduation Dinner

Wilmer Residents Association (WRA) Annual Meeting

Established in 1938, the Wilmer Residents Association (WRA) Annual Meeting brings together Wilmer faculty, residents, fellows, alumni, and ophthalmologists from across the country to share advances in clinical practice and fundamental research in the eye sciences. This year marks the 84th convening of this longstanding tradition.

The WRA Meeting is a one-day, live, CME-accredited educational activity featuring multiple expert speakers and broad engagement from the Wilmer community and the national ophthalmic field. The program highlights emerging clinical practices and research innovations across ophthalmology, fostering discussion and collaboration among trainees, faculty, and practicing physicians.

Educational sessions are designed to deepen participants’ understanding of key clinical challenges and evolving research in the field. Attendees will learn to identify and describe the most common postoperative intraocular and periocular infections, and apply evidence-based perioperative management strategies for cataract surgery, including appropriate preoperative, intraoperative, and postoperative interventions to reduce complications and improve patient outcomes. The meeting also explores the impact of emerging analytical approaches, including big data analyses, and examines how social determinants of health influence ophthalmic disease risk, access to care, and treatment outcomes.

The Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to provide continuing medical education for physicians.

Wilmer Memorial Lecture

Established in 1988, the Wilmer Memorial Lecture has been held yearly ever since, except for 1989 and 2020. Each year, a distinguished lecturer is selected, and his or her name added to the special plaque designed by our own Dr. Daniel Finkelstein.
